Governor Ayotte recently signed into law HB1312: relative to the authority of various boards. This legislation made changes to RSA 328-J, the law which governs Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (MIRT) in New Hampshire.
5. Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy; Rulemaking Authority.
Amend RSA 328-J:7, XII to read as follows:
XII. Standards for educational programs which shall be no less stringent than the standards approved by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology, Joint Review Committee on Education in Nuclear Medicine Technology, or Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
This change moves approval of medical imaging and radiation therapy programs to the OPLC executive director (with advisory input from the board of medical imaging and radiation therapy). It also appears to provide more specificity to the law with respect to acceptable standards for educational programs identifying accrediting organizations.
